Angola is said to have the fastest growing economy in Africa. Could Angola become the China of Africa?

A greater focus on science, technology and innovation can enable Angola to diversify its economic base and help southern African nation not only recover from its nearly three-decade long civil conflict but also become an engine of growth for the continent, a new United Nations study has found.

According to a UN report released today, economic diversification and reconstruction are Angola’s top development priorities, according to science, technology, and innovation policy (STIP) review conducted by UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and UN Development Programme (UNDP).

Hello world!

Posted by Temi Kolawole | Posted in Updates | Posted on 22-11-2008

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Reaspora blog! As many of you may know, Wordpress (which is what this blog is running on) creates an initial post  titled “Hello World” with some text telling you to edit or delete it. Well, I thought the title was more than appropriate for the purpose of this project.

Hello world! Meet Reaspora!

Let’s call that Reaspora’s formal introduction to the world, and to all Africans everywhere.

Let me start with a brief intro on Reaspora.

Reaspora.com is going to be a resource and network for Africans in the diaspora who are interested in returning to contribute to the development of the great continent of Africa. It will be an online gateway to the vast opportunities that exist in all African countries

Reaspora was born on the 12th of October, 2008 at BarCampAfrica which was held at Mountain View California. You can read more on how it was born here. Ellen Leanse (the main organiser or BarCampAfrica) then made a formal announcement at the closing session of BarCamAfrica about the project and I also spoke briefly on the project and asked for everyone’s help. I’m asking for help again right now. Please fill this form to get involved. The rest of the world needs Africa more than Africa needs the rest of the world right now. A new era has begun in African nations and among Africans all over the world. African economies are doing better than many western economies. I think something really big is going on here.

Do you live abroad? Are you considering either moving back to Africa or just doing business there? Reaspora will cater to you. Are you currently in Africa and looking for exposure for opporunities you’re involved in? Are you looking for the next best job in Africa? Reaspora will cater to you.
